Done and Done.

I've decided to stop doing two things. The first is that I am not going to take any more library classes. Sure, I'm half done but I can't see it going anywhere. For the past couple of weeks I've been building stuff and solving techy problems at work. While it can be frustrating, it is also exciting and engaging. I don't have to spend all day at a desk but then again I don't have to spend all day on my feet either. It's a good mix of physical and mental and I really can see doing this type of thing for a while. What I can't see doing is working with just information all day. The best way I can put it is the work is just to "flat" to much shuffling paper and bytes. Besides, I'm sure that librarians should like to interact with the public on some level. I don't usually. Particularly when they are slightly dumb and angry (about 80% of all people). Ah well, live and learn.

I don't regret taking those courses. I learned a lot of neat stuff and became a bit more aware of my own information usage. At the very least I learned that Wikipedia isn't exactly the best place to get your facts.

The second thing I'm not doing any more of is watching Farscape. Why? Cause it's dumb. I started watching it on DVD on the recommendation of a coworker's husband. The special effects are pretty good, the puppetry is excellent and the characters are interesting. But the actors, for the most part, are sub par and the plots are very one dimensional (and usually somewhat sleazy). So no more Farscape, it just isn't worth the time.

Maybe I am spoiled on Lost, BSG and Doctor Who. These shows have hooked me on a running plot like instead of disjointed episodes (Doctor Who does some of this but there's a feeling of forward movement). I'm still looking for more good sci fi series; I have high hopes for Eureka after the first disk.
